About 60 miles north of Albuquerque is a destination where you can set sail on Battleship Rock in Jemez Springs, New Mexico. Well, maybe you won’t be able to quite raise the anchor, but you can certainly come see the horizon and admire the 200 foot tall natural rock formation that greatly resembles a war time battleship.

Visitors can take in the sound of both the San Antonio Creek and East Fork Jemez river that peacefully echo from the bow of Battleship Rock.

Between Spring through Fall, the area is ideal for fishing, hiking and picnicking.

During the Summer, the weather can reach the mid-to-high 90s in the day and the mid-to-high 60s at night.

While there is no overnight camping available, day camping is permitted. The grounds offer 33 picnic sites complete with cooking grills, picnic tables, public restrooms, drinking water and one family pavilion. Reservations are not available, so spots are first come, first served.

The daily fee is only $5.00 per vehicle. Be sure to bring exact cash because debit/credit cards are not accepted and ATMs are not available (Did you really expect an ATM?).
